People who want to improve quality of their English communication would know importance of idioms. In this post will try to cover 6 commonly used idioms in corporate world. It will be positive change if we start using them in our day to day conversation.
So let start with our topic
1. thrown in the deep end: throwing into uncomfortable situation without any preparation.
example: Manager had really thrown me in the deep end by asking me to work on tool for which I had no idea. And that too without any formal training
2. out of one's depth: in a situation that is beyond one's capabilities
example: Ramesh found himself out of his depth in role assigned, so asked his manager for bit of handholding during transition period.
3. learn the ropes: to learn the basic task to be able to do your task efficiently.
example: New joiners are asked to focus on learning the ropes for initial few months.
4. think outside the box: think creatively and solve problems.
Resources should be groomed and provided space to think outside the box. It would help in long run.
5. steep learning curve: someone has to learn something difficult or is 180 degree apart from what they already know.
example: For Financial experts learning data mining tool was a steep learning curve.
6. climb the corporate ladder: progression of roles throughout a career.
To climb the corporate ladder it is important to gradually improve our visibility and have a holistic perspective
